Rockford Moppa Springs GMS 2022
Rockford Moppa Springs GMS 2022
A juicy, spicy Barossa blend from one of the region's great guardians of tradition.
Grape Varietals & Region: A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Shiraz sourced from the Moppa Springs vineyard in the Barossa Valley, Australia.
Taste Profile: An elegant ruby colour with rich and intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, spice and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate with silky tannins and flavours of dark fruit, chocolate and pepper.
Winemaking Process: The fruit is de-stemmed and fermented in open slate tanks, then basket-pressed before maturing in seasoned oak casks.
Winemaker: Rockford was founded by Robert O'Callaghan, who trained as a winemaker at Seppelt from 1965 before settling in the Barossa in 1971 and releasing Rockford's first vintage in 1984. Rather than chase modern, international styles, O'Callaghan built the winery's reputation on preserving old, ungrafted heritage vineyards and reviving traditional Barossa methods, working in partnership with growers across sites including Kalimna, Ebenezer, Eden Valley and Moppa Springs.
